The Hero of Pastryton

It was a yummy day in Pastryton,
And the people were preparing for the fray,
The fray they long awaited for,
Of the Goodie Yummy Um Chum day!

It was a day when everyone bakes
A delicious candy, dessert, or tart,
But nobody baked as good as
Miss Poppy de Claire O'Heart.

She was the best, the absolute superb,
All the baking contests she won,
Until a dreadful thing transpired-
Her prize pop tart was gone!

"Oh my goodness graciously!"
She cried with a yelp.
"It's gone, vanished, call 911,
Oh, someone please help! Help!"

It wasn't long before
Mr. Vere E. Clumz came.
He was very short and plump,
And was always searching for fame.

Hearing what already happened,
He said to Miss Poppy de Claire O'Heart,
"Have no fear, for I will go and search,
And won't come back without your tart!"

After giving his "heroic" speech,
He set out on his journey
To find the missing tart,
And to come back famous, he'd be.

He searched far and near,
He searched high and low,
He searched every town and city,
He even tried the end of the rainbow!

But having no luck, he sadly said,
"I thought I was to be the hero,
But I'm not. I can't find it!
I turned out to be absolutely zero!"

A jackalope hopped by and saw his distress.
He told him in a sing-song lullaby,
"Hopping and eating this tart will help you feel good;
Trust me, why don't you try!"

Hearing the jackalope say the word "tart",
Mr. Vere E. Clumz took him down!
He knocked him out and tied him up,
And took him back to Pastryton town.

He made it back in speedy good time,
The people greeted him with joyous cries,
And together they threw the confused jackalope into jail,
Where later he'd be rightly justified.

When Miss Poppy de Claire O'Heart came, she said,
"Oh thank you for finding my tart!
At first I thought you would fail,
But now I thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

So I guess you can say he saved the day,
But what happened next to Sir Vere E. Clumz?
He became a new superhero in Pastryton,
And shall always be remember from sea to shining sea!
